DEVOTED TO THE LEGACY OF THE ARTIST WENDELL CASTLE
VISION
The Wendell Castle Project sees itself as a hub of creativity and design innovation where students, makers, and art lovers come to engage with each other and immerse themselves in Castle’s artistic legacy.
GOALS
-
To transform Castle’s former studio space into a school that promotes his artistic values. This sector of activities, called the Wendell Castle Workshop, was launched in 2023 with classes beginning in the spring of 2024. Workshops in woodworking, metal working, design, and more, will be taught by instructors who studied under, worked for, collaborated with, or were inspired by Castle.
-
To archive and conserve Castle’s drawings, studies, models, books, photographs, and other archival documents; make them freely available online and in person; and establish a learning center where students and scholars can consult the artist’s archive and celebrate his creative legacy.
-
To host exhibitions, lectures, screenings, and other such events that invite the public to engage with art and design.
